La costituzione fa scuola a piccoli e grandi

L’esperienza di un istituto comprensivo per avvicinare ragazzi, insegnanti e genitori alla costituzione italiana. In calce l’intero articolo proposto anche in lingua inglese.

Nella splendida cornice del teatro comunale di Lonigo, sabato 15 maggio 2010, gli alunni della scuola primaria di Madonna hanno reso omaggio ai valori contenuti nella Costituzione. La mattinata è stata il frutto di un progetto nato dalla collaborazione tra l’Associazione FIDAPA di Lonigo e l’Istituto Comprensivo “C. Ridolfi”. La fase di progettazione è stata particolarmente curata per rispondere alle indicazioni della Legge 169/08 (documento di indirizzo per la sperimentazione del curricolo di Cittadinanza e Costituzione) che invita ad affrontare i contenuti con una metodologia nuova. Accogliendo questa sfida, le insegnanti, gli alunni e i genitori della scuola primaria di Madonna, attraverso attività che li hanno resi protagonisti di esperienze narrative, teatrali e musicali sono stati avvicinati e coinvolti in modo attivo a esplorare i testi della Costituzione e della Dichiarazione dei Diritti dell’Infanzia, strumenti regolativi della vita democratica del nostro paese.

È stata una mattinata articolata in due parti: la prima di tipo formativo, grazie all’intervento del giornalista pubblicista Carlo Ridolfi; la seconda dedicata alle presentazioni delle esperienze degli alunni che sintetizzavano il percorso di lavoro dell’intero anno scolastico.

Il giornalista Ridolfi ha condotto la relazione “Un aeroplano a vela. La Costituzione dalla carta alla vita di tutti i giorni” offrendo ai genitori e ai ragazzi della scuola secondaria di primo grado occasioni di riflessione. Il relatore ha presentato spunti cinematografici, la lettura e la comprensione di alcuni articoli della Carta Costituzionale. Con linguaggio chiaro ed essenziale, il giornalista ha invitato a scoprire i messaggi valoriali per trasformarli in concrete e coerenti azioni quotidiane.

Gli alunni invece sono riusciti a sorprendere il pubblico con le loro diverse rappresentazioni. Ancora una volta il saggio “Cipì” di Mario Lodi è riuscito a emozionare tutti i presenti. L’uccellino ha aiutato i piccoli di classe seconda a comprendere parole importanti come DIRITTO, DOVERE, LEGGE, RISPETTO. L’intreccio narrativo tra realtà e fantasia è stato proiettato in forma di documentario narrativo con fotografie, interviste e disegni. Anche le rappresentazioni teatrali sono state coinvolgenti e significative per i messaggi proposti. Gli alunni della classe prima, per far capire l’importanza del rispetto di tutti e quindi della Costituzione, hanno interpretato la storia del principe Rodolfo e del suo principato.

L’articolo 9 della nostra Costituzione, che promuove la tutela del paesaggio e dell’ambiente, è stato oggetto di studio da parte degli alunni di classe terza, che attraverso la scoperta degli elementi naturali acqua, aria, terra, fuoco, hanno capito che è compito di tutti proteggere e rispettare il luogo in cui si vive.

I ragazzi di classe quinta invece, hanno condotto il pubblico in un ambiente surreale, per interpretare la loro idea di pace e di guerra, di luce e di oscurità, di odio e di amore. Il lavoro si riferiva al contenuto dell’articolo 11 dove si legge che l’Italia ripudia la guerra e promuove la pace.

Hanno concluso gli alunni delle classi quarte che, attraverso la collaborazione dei loro genitori, hanno presentato alcuni aspetti dell’articolo 3 della Costituzione, con lo spettacolo “sono contento di essere un bambino” ispirato alla storia classica, ma sempre attuale, “Pinocchio” di Carlo Collodi.

La parte musicale ha visto protagonisti sia i ragazzi della scuola secondaria di primo grado sia i bambini della scuola primaria. Il repertorio dei ragazzi della scuola media è stato più “maturo” nella scelta delle canzoni, più “frizzante” e movimentato quello dei più piccoli, entrambi però hanno creato forti emozioni.

Sicuramente la messa in scena di tutte le esperienze si è rivelata la migliore modalità per valutare le scelte operative effettuate. L’entusiasmo dei piccoli, le emozioni esplicitate dai grandi, la soddisfazione delle insegnanti e della FIDAPA hanno ripagato l’impegno richiesto per la concretizzazione di questo progetto.

Ma la cosa più importante è che tutti abbiamo SCOPERTO il testo della COSTUITUZIONE, quale meravigliosa risorsa per affrontare qualsiasi tematica della vita democratica e di educazione, e strumento originale per motivare scelte didattiche innovative e adeguate alle esigenze del nostro tempo

THE ITALIAN CONSTITUTION TEACHES YOUNG AND OLD

In the magnificent setting of the local town theatre in Lonigo, Saturday 15 May 2010, the students from the primary school of Madonna honoured the values contained in the Italian Constitution. The project was the result of the joint collaboration between the FIDAPA Association of Lonigo and the Instituto Comprensivo “C. Ridolfi” (Middle and Primary schools). The planning stage was particularly attentive in meeting the indications set out in Law 169/8 (document for experimenting in the Citizenship and Constitution curriculum) which encourages to challenge the contents through new teaching methodology. The teachers, pupils and parents of the primary school of Madonna, part of the Instituto Comprensivo C. Ridolfi, took this challenge. Through activities which made them protagonists of narrative, theatrical and musical experiences, they were inspired and actively took part in exploring the Constitution and the Declaration of Children’s Rights, regulated instruments of democratic life in our country.

The performance was divided in two parts: the first part was informative, thanks to the intervention of the journalist publicist Carlo Ridolfi; the second dedicated to the presentations of the students’ experiences synthesizing the schoolwork of the entire year.

The journalist Ridolfi presented the theme “An airplane a sail. The Constitution from paper to daily life” giving the parents and students, present at the event, occasions for reflection. The journalist presented segments of cinema, reading and comprehension of some Articles in the Constitutional Paper. Using clear and essential language, the journalist invited all to discover the valuable messages to be transformed into concrete and coherent daily actions.

On the other hand, the students were able to surprise the audience with their varied presentations. Once again the wise “Cipì” by Mario Lodi was able to move all present. The little bird helped the smaller second grade pupils to understand important words such as RIGHTS, OBBLIGATIONS, LAWS, RESPECT. The twist between reality and fantasy was narrated while photographs, interviews and drawings were projected on the screen in the background. The theatrical performances were also enthralling and meaningful for the messages they conveyed. The first grade pupils acted out the story of Prince Rodolfo and his kingdom to help us understand the importance of respect for all and therefore of the Constitution.

Article 9 of our Constitution, which promotes the tutelage of our landscape and environment, was subject of study by the third grade pupils. Through the discovery of the natural elements water, air, earth, fire they learnt that it’s everyone’s duty to protect and respect the place where one lives.

While the fifth grade pupils, transported the audience in a surreal environment, interpreting their idea of war and peace, light and darkness, love and hate. Their presentation made reference to Article 11, which says that Italy disclaims war and promotes peace.

The fourth grade pupils concluded the performance, with the collaboration of their parents, presenting aspects of Article 3 of the Constitution by performing “I’m happy to be a child” inspired by the classic story of “Pinocchio” by Carlo Collodi. The primary school pupils and middle school students all took part in the final musical performance. The middle school’s repertoire was more “mature” in their choice of songs, while the primary school’s was more “sparkling” and animated, both performances created strong emotions.

The staging of all the experiences definitely revealed to be the best way to value the effects of the choices made for the performance. The enthusiasm of the young pupils, the explicit emotions of the older students, the satisfaction of the teachers and of the FIDAPA rewarded the commitment requested for the realization of this project. The most important thing is that we have all DISCOVERED the text of the CONSTITUTION, what a marvellous resource for dealing with any subject of democratic life and education. An original instrument for motivating innovative didactic choices, and relevant to the needs of our times.
